History of Founders Gala
The inaugural Founders Gala was held in 2009 as the culmination of the year-long 60th Anniversary celebration.
The Founders Gala is held every other year and brings together alumni, parents, trustees and friends in the spirit of philanthropy to raise money for the Founders Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Established in honor of the University of San Diego’s founders, Bishop Charles Francis Buddy and Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill, the scholarship fund provides financial assistance for undergraduate, graduate and law students.
Net proceeds from the Founders Gala ensure that the most promising students have access to USD’s exemplary educational experience.
Bishop Charles Francis Buddy and Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill chartered the University of San Diego in 1952 from resources drawn from their respective organizations on a stretch of land known to this day as "Alcalá Park," named for San Diego de Alcalá.
