Robert Bruning ’86 (BBA)
Managing Partner, Ernst & Young LLP
Robert Bruning is the managing partner of the Ernst & Young San Diego office. He manages a team of over 300 professionals who deliver accounting, tax and advisory services to San Diego based companies. He has been in various roles with Ernst & Young from 1986 to 1993 and again from 1998 through the present. Robert has 23 years experience serving publicly traded global clients throughout Southern California in the Life Science, Technology and Consumer Product sectors. He has participated in multiple public transactions related to equity or debt financings and mergers/acquisitions.
From 1993 to 1998, Robert served as an executive vice president and chief financial officer, which included Cobra Golf and Oakley, both of which were publicly traded multi-national companies. He oversaw all aspects of the accounting, finance and investor relation functions.
Robert received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of San Diego in 1986. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the San Diego Museum of Art, the Board of the YMCA of San Diego County and the advisory board for the University of San Diego Business School. Robert and his wife Marla (’87) live in Carlsbad and have three children, Kelli, Emily and John.
